Women Bishops
Again one group feels that to deny leadership to women is make the church unequal and sexist. Our culture has women leaders, so must we. Others feel that it is possible to be equal without doing the same things. This is our position.
God gives us a good example of that. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit are all equally God. But they have different roles. And men and women who are made in God's image are called to reflect him in equality and difference.
As a church we feel that two groups can think differently on the issue of women leaders, and ought to live together in one church. This should not be something we should divide over.
But the CofE increasingly feels there is no room for people who prefer leadership to be male.
Sadly In England this may result in a greater division than the disagreement over homosexuality in America. Keen bible teaching men and women will be kept out of church leadership if they believe the church should be led by men. Ultimately our denomination will increasingly be led by people who believe culture should win whenever there is a clash with the Bible.
